Roy J. Esser

Roy J. Esser, 78, of Kewaskum, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.


He was born on July 10, 1929, in Lomira, the son of the late Frank and Frances (Reimer) Esser, and on July 17, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Bizjak in Crivitz.


Roy was a graduate of U. W. River Falls and received his master’s degree from U. W. Madison and his local vocational degree from U. W. Stout.


Roy was an agriculture teacher in Crivitz and Kewaskum for 29 years. The Esser family moved to Kewaskum in 1960, where Roy served as the assistant principal at Kewaskum High School for 12 years.


Roy was a dedicated educator for 41 years and was a past president of the Wisconsin Agriculture Teachers. He was very involved in his community as a member of the Crivitz Lions Club, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, the Kewaskum Kiwanis Club, the Moose Lodge West Bend 1398 and Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend. His teaching colleagues, former students and civic organization colleagues will fondly remember him.


Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Gary Esser of Crivitz; two granddaughters, Elissa and Erika Esser of Crivitz; a brother, Norman (Loretta) Esser of West Bend; three sisters, Sister Jeanette Esser of Campbellsport, Carol (James) Murphy of Eden and Jane (Ed) Gurno of Fond du Lac, other relatives, colleagues and many friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial was in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Campbellsport at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.


Relatives and friends called on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
