Harry C. Ramthun

Harry C. Ramthun, 92, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, surrounded by his loving family.


He was born on September 7, 1920, in the town of Kewaskum, the son of the late Otto and Alma (Backhaus) Ramthun, and on June 23, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marie Bahr at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels. Marie preceded Harry in death on July 9, 1977.


Harry was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend. He was a life-long farmer, enjoyed fishing and having a good time. Harry was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.


Those Harry leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, Kenneth (Carol) Ramthun and Catherine Ramthun both of the town of Farmington, Rose (Richard) Reindl of Kewaskum and Harold (Eileen) Ramthun of the town of Farmington; ten grandchildren, Michael (fiancée, Korie Hall) Ramthun, Christine (Glenn) Schellinger, Timothy (Valerie) Ramthun, John (Sarah) Ramthun, Thomas (Amanda) Ramthun, Deborah (Dean) Pankratz, Nicole (Brian) Cota, Cynthia, Mary and Margaret Reindl; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ben and Noah Schellinger, Joshua, Anthony, Caleb and Lydia Ramthun; a sister, LaVerne Petermann of the town of Auburn; a special friend, Helen Giese of Mayville, other relatives and friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, Harry was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer (Bernice) Ramthun, Wilmer Ramthun, Ervin “Chesty” (Deane) Ramthun and Otto (Tudy) Ramthun; two sisters, Delores (Elwyn) Ebert and Violet (William) Edwards; a brother-in-law, Lloyd “Pete” Petermann and two sisters-in-law, Bernice (Victor) Lentz and Henrietta Brace.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Harry was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend. Father John Radetski officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery on Forest View Road in the town of Barton.


Relatives and friends called at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
