This is such a wonderfully written obituary, delightfully telling of Pastor Schowalter's life and interests since we knew him in the 1970's in St Joseph, IL. He was always a kind and loving man, so devoted to his family. Though we rejoice in his now being with his Lord and Savior, and reunited with Ann Marie, we know it is a bittersweet time for all the children and family, who are missing his vitality and presence. Our prayers for and greetings to all.

My deepest sympathy to Karlene, John, Frieda and their families. I'm sorry that I am unable to attend the memorial service on Sunday. My parents, Andrew and Jeannette Anderson, remained friends and stayed in touch with letters and visits with your parents after your family left St. Peter's Church in Big Falls. I have dear memories of playing with Frieda at the parsonage and spending time with the Schowalter family. I can still remember riding in the Volkswagon Beetle too! As a very young child, I remember your father being so kind to all of us children at church. It seemed his calling to have fun with all the youth and teach us God's love during church activities. May God surround all of you with His unending love during your loss.
