Knew you as you were in my sisters High School class. REALLY knew you when you became a Delta Sig with Tom Thorson. We really had fun when you and Euna visited Marlys and me when we lived in Evanston,.I also remember how you handled jumping out of the plane on Monday morning, hoping the chute would open.

Love and prayers to the dear Matenaers. What wonderful memories of our time as neighbors on 11th Avenue. His memory will be cherished, and I know that the seating under the oak tree is getting emptier.
Love,
Ann Kranstover-Scott

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I have many wonderful memories of fun times had by all. Remember the picture on his catamaran of all of us in our Cabot's Cove t-shirts? And of course, can't forget the cocktail parties! Love the pic of Joe!
God Bless all of you,

Angie, Ann and BJ extend their sympathy to the Matenaer family. We have many fond memories of our many years together at Cabot's--cocktail parties, cards, boating, fishing, tennis, 4th of July and more. The button Euna gave us at Joe's big birthday party is at the cottage!!!

Rick, Bridget, Michele and Renee, I just heard of Joe's passing, first I'd like to express my deepest sympathy. Ever since I met Joe, I've wanted to be more like Joe (I'm sure there are many like me). Joe was and will continue to be an inspiration to me. I've always admired him, his friendship, his business sense and most of all, his love of family. I've tried to model many things in my life around the question, "how would Joe Matenaer handle that?" I never shared that with you, but several people in Nashville know Joe because of my memories and the great respect I have for him and have shared with others. Just being around him was awesome. I'll miss him and I love the picture (it's kind of how I remember him). He'll never be forgotten, I do and will always remember him with great admiration of who he was and what he taught me, without him even knowing. I have several great memories that make me smile and my prayer during this time of sadness, the thought of him brings you comfort and smiles, to have had him for a father was a great blessing. He was a great man and we're all better because of him touching our lives!! I'm am so disappointed I'll miss the funeral services, please accept my apologies, I will be there in thought and prayer!! Again, my deepest condolences.

Ken

My condolences to everyone that loved and respected Joe. His spirit will live on in many happy memories from throughout my life - the fire-watch tower in Door County, summer gatherings with our collective family's, a powder blue 4-door Audi, cards, bowling and party's with my parents, events at Holy Angel's and West Bend Country Club, etc, etc. But mostly, I will embrace the warmth and congenial smile he shared with me every time we met.

May God give you all peace as you say your goodbyes to this wonderful man. Thank you for sharing your PAPA with all of us. Our Jessica was a very well loved little girl because 2 gracious grandparents knew she needed some extra love at an important time in her life. Euna and Joe gave her such special joy. We always are grateful for that. What a privilege I had to spend many hrs with Joe as the family prepared for Lizzies wedding at the farm. What a special time!!! My best to you Donna. Blessings and love. The Norgel family
