Obituary

Verna E Faisst (nee Niehaus), age 94 years, of West Bend passed peacefully on January 14, 2023.

Verna was born on May 13, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri to her parents, Albert Daniel and Verna Eunice Niehaus (nee Mauer).   She married Rev. Ralph Faisst on June 5th, 1954 in St. Louis. 

Verna attended St. Louis Public Schools, and Harris Teacher College.  She was very active in the United Church of Christ and volunteered at Fellowship Center and as a Caravaner promoting racial and ethnic understanding within youth groups of the church.  She worked for St. Louis Public Schools as a teacher before marrying Ralph. After marrying, she continued her work in the church as a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir.  She also worked as a substitue teacher and in a medical office.  When they retired, she remained active in volunteering - tutoring struggling readers, helping with tour groups at the Cedar Community "Little Red School House", and abiding with those on Hospice care. 

Those Verna leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband Ralph of 68 years; one daughter Marcia Nunes (Marco) two grandchildren, Patrick Nunes (Christina) and Monica Albrecht (Dane), five great grand-children, one sister Ruth Hunt. Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. 

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Verna Niehaus; One daughter, Cynthia Faisst, and two sisters Alberta Ulrich and Elizabeth Johnston.
