Merle J. Laatsch

Merle Laatsch, 74, of Kewaskum, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

Merle was born on November 12, 1942 in West Bend, the son of the late Lawrence and Marie (Uelmen) Laatsch. On June 6, 1968, he was united in marriage to Barbara Radtke at St. Johns U.C.C. in Boltonville. Barbara preceded Merle in death on February 21, 1992.

Merle was proud of his work as a union plumber Local 75. He was a town chairman for the Town of Auburn for many years after he retired. Merle enjoyed hunting, going fishing up north, and gardening.

Those Merle leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, Erik Laatsch of New Fane; three brothers, Donald Laatsch of West Bend, Eugene (Bette) Laatsch of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leon (Chris) Laatsch of West Bend; six sisters, Myrna Laatsch of West Bend, Eileen (Gerald) Yearling of Boltonville, Karen Radtke of West Bend, Ruth (Edwin) Boomer of Antigo, Carolyn (Walter) Landvatter of West Bend, and Shirley Ryan of Port Washington; a sister-in-law, Mary Laatsch of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Richard Radtke of Kewaskum; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Merle was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Laatsch; a sister, Marilyn (David) Jung; a brother-in-law, Mike Ryan and an infant brother-in-law.

Funeral services for Merle will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, W8497 Brazelton Drive, in the town of Scott, with Rev. Brian Krueger officiating. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in the town of Scott.

Merle’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
