Kenneth "Kenny" Koehler Obituary

Kenneth Earl “Kenny” Koehler, age 85 years, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2020 at Froedtert St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born on June 27, 1935 in Bonduel to Frederick and Martha Koehler  (Arndt).  He was united in marriage to Dorothy L. (Oelhafen) on July 31, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, where he was a devoted usher and served as a ranger leader for many years.

Ken graduated from Shawano High School in 1953.  He worked for Mercury Marine for 40 years and retired in 1998.

Early in his life, Ken enjoyed bowling, fishing, horseshoes,flea marketing and playing cards. In the later years he loved his casino trips, feeding and watching the birds in his yard and cheering on his favorite sports teams. What he cherished the most was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and they will miss him deeply.

Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; three children, Debbie Koehler, Steven (Nancy) Koehler; and Scott Koehler; five grandchildren, Jason Koehler, Christopher (Alyssa) Koehler, Stephanie (Kyle) Shaver, Bradley Koehler and Dakota Koehler; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Koehler, Karlie Koehler, Annabella Walker, McKenzie Koehler, Autumn Koehler, Kylie Shaver, Austin Shaver and Carter Koehler.  Ken is further survived by his sister, Isabelle Westerfeld; brother, Harley (Alice) Koehler, two sisters-in-law, Meta Kielley and Alice Oelhafen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Marcella (Oliver) Vorpahl, six brothers, Arnie (Elsie), Ray (Betty), Harold (Dorothy), Leonard (Ida), Frederick (Betty) Jr., and Lester (Joyce); three brothers-in-law, John Westerfeld, Don Kielley, and Bob Oelhafen; sisters-in-law, Mable (Elmer & Hillard) Kufahl-Peters, and Bernice (Jim) Grigg.  

Ken’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the West Bend Police, Fire and Rescue, and Emergency Medical Technicans as well as the Emergency Staff at Froedtert St. Joseph Hospital for the loving care they provided.

A private funeral service will be held for Ken’s family at Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend.
