Keith A. Schraufnagel

October 5, 1953 ~ November 4, 2021 (age 68)

Obituary

Keith A. Schraufnagel, age 68, of Lomira was surrounded by those he loved when he passed away on November 4, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  During his fight, Keith was continually cared for by his beloved partner, Linda Schaefer.  His children, the very demonstration of what he created in this world, were with him in his final days and moments.  His siblings were with him to offer spiritual support and peace of mind as he prepared to leave this earth.

Keith was born on October 5, 1953, to the late Norbert and Margaret Schraufnagel.  Keith was the fourth of five children born to the couple, raised on Nagelhaven farm in the community of Woodhull.  Keith farmed with members of his family from childhood until he took over the family farm as an adult, under Norbert's watchful eye.  Keith was passionate about farming and herd maintenance.  Keith's love of showing cattle at the county fair was passed down to his children whom he coached in the showmanship of Holsteins and taught how to care for the animals and land around them.

Later in life, Keith began a career in tire sales first at Cliff's Tire and Battery in Ripon and then at Wingfoot Commercial Tire.  Keith ended his career at Pomp's Tire Service in Fond du Lac where he worked for several years until retiring.  He retired from Pomp's on August 31, 2021.  Keith was a loyal employee and co-worker and well-respected salesperson.  His work ethic was so instilled in his family, it will be carried on for generations to come.

Keith will be remembered as an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams, especially Wisconsin Badger football and basketball teams as well as the Green Bay Packers.  He was known to routinely call or text his children after the games to discuss the highs and lows of the games, and always held optimism for the future of his teams. He enjoyed playing bingo with Linda on weekends, fishing on their boat in Minocqua, and traveling with his family members, ever in pursuit of the perfect waterfall.  Keith's recent travels include trips to Maine, Colorado and Alaska.  Keith was a music enthusiast and live concerts of all kinds, never failing to share a new favorite song or band with his children.

Keith's sense of humor and wide smile were shared with everyone around him.  He will be remembered and adored by all for his kindness and we are honored to have had him in our life.  In Keith's final moments, he showed us what we are capable of and reminded us how important it is to rely on one another.

Above all, Keith was a family man who loved, supported and inspired his family members every day.  Keith leaves many behind to cherish his memory including his partner Linda and his five surviving children, Jason Schraufnagel of Fond du Lac, Melissa Warner of Oregon, WI, Amanda (Douglas) Baneck of Winneconne, Travis Schraufnagel (Kelly Rogers) of Ogallala, NE and Stephanie Schraufnagel of Neenah.  He will also be fondly remembered by Linda's four sons: David (Heather) Martin of Kewaskum, Jeff Martin of Kewaskum, Craig (Deb) Martin of Kewaskum and Brian (Ashley) Schaefer of Mayville.  Keith is further survived by his 13 grandchildren:  Adrian Schraufnagel, Ian Schraufnagel, Ani Schraufnagel, Diesel Schraufnagel, Mackenzie Baneck, Addison Baneck, Landen Baneck, Dakota Schraufnagel, Nickolas Schraufnagel, Nena Schraufnagel, Keenan Schraufnagel, Trent Schraufnagel and Luna Schraufnagel, as well as Linda's 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  His loving siblings, Cathie (Duncan) Seffern of Fond du Lac, Noreen (John) Dux of Fond du Lac, Ron Schraufnagel (Sam Roffe) of the Town of Brooklyn, WI and Judeen (Edward) Groth of Fond du Lac will also miss Keith without end.  Keith is further survived by countless loving nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his son, Derek Schraufnagel, and his parents Norbert and Margaret Schraufnagel.  Norbert once told his family members, "Don't be sad.  I'm going to a better place.  I'm sad I can't bring you with me."  It is a blessing to know Keith has joined them.
