Keith Grantman Obituary

Keith Marcus Grantman, age 40, of Lomira, WI, with his family by his side, has transitioned to his Heavenly home on Friday, October 1, 2021, at St Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI.

A Memorial Service in Remembrance of Keith will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 7:00 pm at Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (350 Main St - Lomira, WI  53048).  The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, November 5 at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

On August 8, 1981, Keith was the firstborn of proud parents, Melvin (“Mickey”) and Beth (Weyer) Grantman.  Keith grew up in Lomira, graduating from the Lomira High School in 1999.  As a youth and throughout adolescence, Keith loved the role of “big brother,” helping his brothers and sisters with math, history, and science homework.  Keith was inclined to sports and participated in Lomira High’s football, wrestling, and the baseball community.  Motivated to make his peers laugh, he was known at school for being a "comedian.”  In the summers, Keith looked forward to camping trips with his family in Waupaca, grilling, boating on the Chain O’ Lakes, and gathering under the stars for a campfire.

In his adult life, Keith channeled his love for sports into a devout fanhood for the Bucks, Brewers, Packers, and Badgers.  He cherished fall through winter; hunting with his brother and father while blending with his natural surroundings.  His love for math, design, and art led him to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from UW- Milwaukee.  In college, Keith worked as a literary and mathematics tutor, while also nurturing his interest in policy.  Following his bachelor's degree, Keith dabbled in the political arena working as a former delegate on a resolutions committee, advocating for urban equity.  Keith spent part of his adult life volunteering at the Windover Arts Center as a curator and working as a bartender, exchanging kindness, humor, and knowledge with patrons.  Keith had begun his career in architectural design and enjoyed weekends restoring a historical schoolhouse in Spring Green.

A romantic at heart, Keith felt the most vibrant when he was in the woods, at an art museum, or capturing a stunning landscape.   Keith shared a strong bond with his dog, Fitzgerald Theodore Baxter III ("Fitz"), and cherished walking with him along the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan.  Keith enjoyed soliciting conversations with people on topics related to sports, history, religion, politics, and philosophy.  He found refuge in comedy, landscapes, the pages of his journal, and the brushstrokes on his canvases.  He thought and felt deeply and, in his passing, will be missed with that same thought and depth.

The loved ones Keith leaves behind to cherish his memory include his parents, Melvin and Beth Grantman; two sisters, Jessica Grantman and Lisa (Michael) Johnson; two brothers, Scott (Jessica) Grantman and Chad Grantman; four nieces, Danni “Aaliyah”, Margaret “Maggie”, Lillian, and Keelia; four nephews, Levi, Jackson, Maxon, and Scott Jr., who was his godson. In addition: Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends who Keith cherished deeply.

Keith is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Betty Grantman, and his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Margaret Weyer.
Keith's family would like to give a special thanks to the Chaplains, Physicians, and Nurses at St Agnes in Fond du Lac.

Quotes by Keith:

The best time to make friends is before you need them.

To enjoy life, you must put joy in it.

Man will judge by what you do.  God will judge by what you are.

We were born to die, so enjoy every moment and spread that joy every chance you get.
