Kathleen "Kathy" Kroeger Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” A. Kroeger (nee McCann), 63, of West Bend passed away peacefully in her sleep unexpectedly on Monday, April 12, 2021.

She was born on July 12, 1957, to the late Morris “Bud” and Ruth (nee Mueller) McCann in Milwaukee, WI. Kathy worked in retail for 35 years, where she made many friends along the way.

Kathy was an example of how all people should live and love.  She thought only of others, and never of herself.  Kathy never arrived at anyone’s house, especially wherever her grandchildren were, empty-handed.  Whether cookies, brownies, bread, dog treats for her two favorite pups, or a simple warm hug, she consistently gave of herself in complete imbalance with what she took.

Her resiliency and flexibility throughout her life allowed her to maintain this level of giving, while still tailoring it to each of her loved ones separately.  To say that we all had a different relationship with Kathy is no understatement, and each special bond was always loving and genuine.  She had a way of making both of her children and all three of her grandchildren feel like they were her only favorite, without actually playing favorites.

Kathy’s places of peace varied between the comfort of her daughter’s couch, her own living room with her son and her cats, and sometimes the great outdoors.  The underlying constant, however, was none of those places were the same without her.  Kathy somehow embodied the true simplicity of life, even when surrounded by the chaos of that same life.  Her physical presence was enough to put anyone at ease.

“Mr. Blue, you did it right
But soon comes Mr. Night creepin' over
Now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind I'll remember you this
I'll remember you this way”

“Mr. Blue Sky”, Electric Light Orchestra

Those Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two children, Lindsay (Scott) Johnson and Joe Kroeger; three grandchildren, Jude Johnson, Eliot Johnson, and Hailee Lugo-Kroeger; four brothers, Tom (Karen) McCann, Roy McCann, Dan (Gwen) McCann, and Kevin McCann; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Mike McCann and Jeff McCann.
