Kaitlin Brown Obituary

Kaitlin Elizabeth Brown, age 30, of West Bend, formerly of Hubertus, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

She was born on July 12, 1990 in Brookfield to Douglas and Jane (nee Schilling) Brown.  Kaitlin had a love of reading that began at the age of four with Dr. Seuss and continued throughout her life with her favorite being Harry Potter.  She was a talented musician and enjoyed sharing her gifts whether it was playing the flute in the high school band or playing the piano for her college friends in Cru.  While in college, Kate’s faith lead her to participate in many outreach and mission trips lead by Cru including one to an Ohio youth camp, and one to Walt Disney World.  Kate loved anything Disney and had enjoyed several other trips there with her family.  She also loved playing cards and games and her competitive nature gave her a passion for winning.  She was a determined individual who never backed down from a challenge.  In keeping with that spirit, Kate graduated with honors from U.W. Green Bay with a triple major in psychology, English, and Human Development.  She was a lifelong advocate for the deaf and blind and even learned sign language.  She extended her education post grad by enrolling in Gallaudet University and Johns Hopkins University with aspirations of earning her masters.  Kate’s strong faith, her determined spirit, and her gentle heart will forever be remembered by her family and friends.

Those Kaitlin leaves behind to cherish her memory include her parents, Douglas and Jane Brown of Hubertus; her sister, Meghan Brown of Hubertus; her brother, Christopher Brown of Hubertus; her paternal grandmother, Carolyn (John) Obradovich; her maternal grandfather, Norbert Schilling; her uncle, Richard Schilling; her nephew, Malachi Gehringer; and other relatives and friends.

Kaitlin was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marlys Schilling.

A funeral service in remembrance of Kaitlin will be held on Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 pm at Kettlebrook Church (2378 W. Washington St. West Bend, WI 53095).  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm.  Burial will be in Sunny Side Cemetery in Lannon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Kaitlin’s memorial stone would be appreciated by the family.
