Harold E. Westerman

Harold E. Westerman, 84, of the town of Wayne, passed away with his family beside him on Friday, January 19, 2007, at Autumn Oaks in Slinger, from prostate cancer after fighting a courageous battle for six years with dementia, Parkinson’s and congestive heart disease.


He was born on April 19, 1922, in the town of Wayne, the son of the late Edward and Alvina (Wahlen) Westerman, and on June 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Werner at St. Bridget Catholic Church in the town of Wayne. Jeanette preceded him in death on June 17, 1961. On June 1, 1963, Harold was united in marriage to Lilly Justman at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


Harold was a lifelong farmer in the town of Wayne, and later drove for Beechwood Cheese Factory in Beechwood. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, where he served as treasurer and secretary and was involved with the maintenance of the church for 25 years. He also served as a Washington County supervisor for 16 years.


Harold was a charter member of the Kewaskum Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club and the Kewaskum Sportsman’s Club. He was a member of the Kettle Moraine Klassic Kar Klub, FFA Alumni, the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend, Our Lady of Holy Hill Assembly 1677, St. Joseph’s Society at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Barton and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


Harold’s first love was his family. His second was his ‘66 Chevy convertible in which they traveled through and to 34 of the states. He also loved hunting, snowmobiling and refurbishing cars and tractors. Harold will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.


Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Lilly; six children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, Kristine (Mark) Heise of Beechwood, and their children, Heath (Jackie) Heise (and their children, Vonn and Sophia) and Alison Heise; Michael (Michelle) Westerman of New Fane, and their children, Sarah (Adam) Kintop, Bryce and Justin Conwell; Jack (Cathy) Westerman of town of Wayne, and their children, Jim (Marieke) Westerman (and their daughter, Ava) and Jeni (Mike) Kirsch (and their children, Jackobi and Kira); Lisa (Matt) Malnory of Cascade, and their son, Treyton; Tim (Jolene) Westerman of Chesapeake, Virginia, and their daughters, Megan and Molly; Sue (Don) Knoke of Berlin, and their son, Zachary; a brother, Cyril “Cy” (Priscilla) Westerman of West Bend; a sister, Beulah Beisbier of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Roman Hartmann of Kewaskum, nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.


Harold was also preceded in death by a sister, Florence Hartmann, a brother-in-law, Byron Beisbier, a grandson, Benjamin Westerman, and a special friend, William Sendrewiez.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold was held on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 8900 N. Townline Rd. (corner of Hwy. H & Townline Rd.), Kewaskum (town of Wayne). Father Edwin Kornath, Father Elroy Pesch, and Father Robert Berghammer concelebrated and burial followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery in Kewaskum.


Relatives and friends called on Sunday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Kewaskum from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., where a prayer vigil was held at 7:00 p.m.


Memorials for the upkeep of St. Bridget Catholic Church building or the charity of one’s choice are appreciated.
