Hans Weber Obituary

Hans P. Weber, 74, of Kewaskum passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

He was born on April 13, 1949, to the late Hans and Sofie (nee Wiederkehr) Weber in Menziken, Switzerland. In 1966, his family moved to the United States and settled in Neillsville, WI to pursue his father’s dream of dairy farming. Hans graduated from Neillsville High School in 1967. He went on and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he met the love of his life Roberta Paliafito.  They were united in marriage on January 30, 1971, in Milwaukee, WI.  Hans honorably served in the United States Army as a member of the 21st Replacement Battalion stationed in Frankfurt Germany from 1970-1973.  Roberta joined him in Germany, and they often referred to this time as their two-year honeymoon.  Upon returning stateside, Hans took a job as a cook at Milwaukee Psychiatric Hospital, later Aurora Behavioral Health where worked his way up to Manager of Food and Nutrition Services.  He retired after 45 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed good music, Friday night cocktails with Roberta, growing gardens full of vegetables and herbs, cooking a wide variety of foods with his signature dishes being oysters bienville and crab cakes with beurre blanc sauce, camping especially at Laura Lake in Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, traveling throughout the United States, playing Sheepshead with the guys, and entertaining family and friends. A loyal fan of Wisconsin sports, he was in attendance for Robin Yount’s 3,000th career hit, Badger’s Rose Bowl appearance in 1994 and the heartbreak of the Green Bay Packer’s OT loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He rarely missed school concerts, volleyball games, basketball games, cross-country meets and track meets. Hans was truly an unforgettable man, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Those Hans leaves behind to cherish his memory includes his loving wife of 52 years, Roberta Weber; two children, Jennifer (Ryan) Hill and Joel (Kari) Weber; three granddaughters, Grace Hill, Sarah Hill, and Sophie Weber; a brother, Ralph (Karen) Weber; four sisters-in-law, Pam Weber, Kathy (Gene) Thieme, Mary (Mark) Lawler, and Patricia Paliafito; three brothers-in-law, Peter Paliafito, James (Bonnie) Paliafito, and Joe (Joe Adams) Paliafito; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Walter Weber; Brother-in-law, Robert Paliafito; and two nephews, Brandon Thieme and Benjamin Paliafito.

A celebration of Hans’ life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank his team of doctors especially, Dr. Rajesh Trivedi, The Parkinson’s Disease exercise program at the Kettle Moraine YMCA, Aurora Medical Center Grafton ED and Intervention Radiology and the nurses and staff at Kathy Hospice for all their help and care.
