Gilbert F. "Bud" Korth

Gilbert F. “Bud” Korth, 85, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum with his family at his side.


He was born on October 8, 1925, in Antigo, the son of the late David and Marie (Miller) Korth, and on August 23, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lorraine “Tudy” Korth at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Tudy preceded Bud in death on December 12, 2006.


Bud served under the command of General George S. Patton Jr. in the U. S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was a founding partner of Hon-E-Kor Country Club in Kewaskum and a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum. Bud was a good baseball player and a member of the Honeck Chevrolet baseball team. He will fondly be remembered as an avid Green Bay Packer fan and will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.


Those Bud leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, James “Jonesy” Korth (special friend, Kay Herman) of Kewaskum; his former daughter-in-law, Jane Korth of Kewaskum; six grandchildren, Jerad (Kelly) Weinfurter, Jamie (Paul) Dixon, Kelly (Brad) Nerat, Jesse (Julie) Korth, Kate Korth and Michael Korth; nine great-grandchildren, Grace and Joey Nerat, Kayla Roberts, Emma and Megan Lubbert, Eden, Eleanor and Warren Korth and Evan Weinfurter; a sister-in-law, Joyce Korth of Bath, Illinois, other relatives and many friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, Bud was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ward; a sister, Dorothy (Lyle) Swarthout and two brothers, David (Wilma) and Myron Korth.


Funeral services for Bud were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Greg Laska officiated and burial, with military honors rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed the service.


Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hon-E-Kor Family Golf Scholarship are appreciated. This scholarship awarded to a high school golf student keeps the memory of deceased golf club members alive.
