Derek J. Kahrs

Derek J. Kahrs, age 41, of Jackson, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday April 30, 2021.

Derek was born on January 15, 1980, in Port Washington to Ethan and Lois Kahrs (nee Zietlow). He was united in marriage to Erika Carlson on January 14, 2008.

Derek always had an upbeat and positive attitude, taking everything in stride. Derek had a true love for creating. He could always be found creating delicious dishes in the kitchen and sharing his love of food with his wife and family. He loved creating building plans using his drafting talent alongside his brother, Trevor. He had a passion for senior dogs and shared many moments of dog life with his family. Derek also had a talent for quick quips and sarcastic comments and loved to keep his family groaning and laughing at the same time. He was legendary for his movie quotes and mimicking and was frequently asked to answer questions in his best Stitch impression. Derek's legacy will live on through all of the memories he leaves behind.

Those Derek leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Erika; one sister, Lori (Eric) Michaels; two brothers, Brian Kahrs and Trevor (Jonna) Kahrs; his parents, Ethan and Lois Kahrs; his mother-in-law, Mary Beth Carlson; a brother-in-law, Patrick (Jennifer) Carlson; nephews and nieces, Noah Kahrs, Nathaniel Kahrs, Joel Kahrs, Jonathan Kahrs, Emma Kahrs, Wyatt Michaels, Emelyn Carlson, Quinn Michaels, Ellie Michaels, Evelynn Kahrs, Emmet Michaels, Cate Carlson, Andrew Carlson, Aden Kahrs and Genevieve Carlson. Not to be forgotten is his beloved fur baby, Jasmine.

Derek was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Fred Carlson.
