Carol A. Puerling

January 27, 1941 ~ January 21, 2012 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Carol A. Puerling, nee Birr, age 70, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on January 27, 1941 in West Bend to the late Clarence and Caroline (nee Bernard) Birr. On February 7, 1959 she was united in marriage to Thomas Puerling at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.

Carol graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1959 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Washington County. In 1969 she became the lead accountant in the Washington County Clerk of Courts office and later became the Chief Deputy Clerk of Courts. She was also an Administrative Assistant for Judge Stoltz and Judge Becker. For 11 years Carol was the Registrar-in-Probate, Clerk of Juvenile Court and Probate Registrar and then she became the Clerk of Circuit Courts for 11 years until her retirement in 1997.

Carol also served as Treasurer for the town of Trenton for several years and she served as the County Board Supervisor for District 6 from 2008 until present. She also served as President of the Newburg Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

Carol had a great respect for the law and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic church and she enjoyed working as a volunteer with St. Frances Cabrini Prayer Chain and the St. Joseph's Hospital Partners.

Carol enjoyed custom floral designing and interior design. She also enjoyed drama and was involved in many local theatrical productions. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed attending many games through out the years.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; two children, Laurie Puerling of Green Bay and Merrie Jo (Randy) Dricken of Elkhorn; three grandchildren, Tia Merie, Britta Lynn and Skyler John Dricken; a sister, Bonnie (Robert) Neumann of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Janice (Joseph) Ebli of Cedarburg and Joyce (Lawrence) Smith of West Bend; a brother-in-law, James (Joan) Esselmann of Phoenix, AZ; other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Caroline Birr; a son, John Puerling; a sister-in-law, Carol Esselmann; two brothers-in-law, Roger Puerling and Jerome Puerling; and her parents-in-law, Simon & Helen Puerling.

Funeral Services in remembrance of Carol will be held on Thursday, January 26 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 pm at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Avenue, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 3:00 pm until the time of the Mass. Burial of Carol's cremated remains will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend.

Carol's family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the Kathy Hospice, Froedert Hospital Milwaukee, St. Joseph's Hospital West Bend, Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Slinger, Dr. Gajic, Dr. Herdrich, and all the family and friends for their care and support.
