Aloysius E. "Al" Zehren

November 1, 1923 ~ May 6, 2014 (age 90) 90 Years Old


   Aloysius E. "Al" Zehren, a youthful 90, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.

   He was born on November 1, 1923, in the town of Wayne, the son of the late George and Theresa (Weiland) Zehren, and on October 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Margaret "Marge" Feucht at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in LeRoy.

   Al proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Al and Marge built and operated the A & W Restaurant in Kewaskum from 1960-1975. During that time, Al also worked full time at Regal Ware in Kewaskum, retiring as a shipping supervisor after 40 years of service and was a member of the 25-Year Club. Al was also a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend, Our Lady of the Hill Assembly 1677, the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, the Kewaskum Civil Police Force, a charter member of Hon-E-Kor Country Club in Kewaskum and past president of the Kewaskum Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club.

   Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.

   Those Al leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Marge; three daughters, Rose Nelson of Mequon, Joan (Dan) Hoerl of St. Paul, Minnesota and Jane Zehren of Whitefish Bay; eight grandchildren, Heidi Nelson (fiance, Mike Rezba) and Travis Nelson, Kristin (Nathan) Wagner, Casey (Megumi) Kuester, Andy (Brit) Hoerl, Matt Hoerl, Alison and Megan Huckenpahler; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Jackson Hoerl; a fond niece, Mary (Dennis) Larsen of West Bend; two brothers-in-law, Rudy Feucht of Arizona and Donald Schacht of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Krebs of St. Lawrence and Gertrude (Don) Roets of Waupun, other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

   In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene (Rita) Zehren, Leo (Madeline) Zehren and Florentine (Dorothy) Zehren; two brothers-in-law, James (Tillie) Feucht and Joe Krebs and four sisters-in-law, Marcella (James) Clark, Betty (Melvin) Emmer, Charlotte Schacht and Betty Feucht.

   A Mass of Christian Burial for Al was held at noon on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Military honor rites by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum followed Mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

   The Zehren family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

   Memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic School or Kewaskum Youth Scholarship (KEYS).

   The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Al's arrangements.
