Virginia “Gini” Lee Sehmer (nee Henderson), 98, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Gini was born on May 14, 1927 in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Phillip and Ermal Henderson (nee Lung). Gini was proud to be a graduate class of 1945 of Howe High School in Indiana. Her passion for writing was demonstrated in her articles of her school newspaper. After graduation she proudly worked in the library of Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gini was united in marriage to Donald Mayer on June 20, 1953, and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She continued to work in office jobs until she had her children. Gini was divorced in 1966. She later was remarried to Wayne Sehmer in September of 1979. She worked in the office at Lied’s Nursery for quite some time before retiring at 65 to help care for her first grandchild, Jessica. In her later years she cared for her husband, Wayne after his strokes. Gini was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In her lifetime, Gini was known for her devotion to her faith, family and friends. She was a talented painter and quilter. Gini was an inspiration to many. She will be missed greatly by family and friends.

Those left to cherish Gini’s memory include her children, Donna (Patrick) Brooks, Dianne “Dee” (Michael) Brown, and Kevin (Tami) Sehmer; grandchildren, Jessica Brooks, Breena Brooks (fiancé, Bryan Waldrop), Rachel Sehmer, and Dillon Sehmer; great-grandchild, Colson Waldrop, Greyson Waldrop, Adalae Waldrop, and Atticus Waldrop;

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Gini is preceded in death by her children, Deborah and Daniel Mayer; sister, Phyllis Newcomb; nephew, Phillip (Butch) Newcomb.

Gini’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Kettlebrook Church (2378 W. Washington Street, West Bend, WI 53095), from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. The burial will take place following service at Valhalla Cemetery (5402 N. 91st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53225).

The family would like to thank her dedicated care givers Julie Larson and Talia Lafayette for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kettlebrook Church or The American Cancer Society.
