Valeria “Val” Heidtke (nee Quaas), 85, was called home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025.
Val was born on May 4,1940 in Sheboygan to the late Elmer and Lucille Quaas (nee Stautz). Val was united in marriage to Reuben Heidtke on June 22, 1985 at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend. Her first husband, Warren Sekas, preceded her in death in 1982. Val was a proud and devoted mom and grandma who cherished time spent with her family.
She worked for 20 years at the West Bend Company as an accounts payable clerk, where she was known for her dedication, attention to detail, and reliability.
Val had a deep love for homemaking. She enjoyed baking, cooking, cake decorating, and crocheting mittens for the mitten tree at church. Music and community were important to her—she danced joyfully to polka bands, played sheepshead with friends in card clubs and at family gatherings, and sang alto in church choirs.
Val and Reuben, shared a special bond centered on their love of playing cards, dancing, and polka music. She also enjoyed watching Wisconsin sports teams with Reuben. Together, they traveled across the country and abroad, creating treasured memories side by side. Family reunions were especially meaningful to Val, as were trips to family cottages on Pine Lake in northern Wisconsin, greatly valuing togetherness and shared moments.
Val will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family and tradition, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Those left to cherish Val’s memory include her husband, Reuben; children, Shelly (Bert) Schultz, Amy (Scott) Reid, and Jody (Kim) Sekas; grandchildren, Hans Schultz, Jane Sekas, and Aaron Reid; sister, Eileen (Bob) Loewe; sisters-in-law, Carol Quaas, Pam Quaas, Shirley (Marv) Roloff, and Sandra Scherb; other relatives and friends.
