Sandra J. Fischer, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
She was born on December 23, 1947, in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Esther (Holmgren) Miller. On April 28, 1973, she married the love of her life, Gary Fischer, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon.
Sandy graduated from Lisbon High School in 1965 and went on to attend North Dakota State University. After earning her degree, she moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, where she began a successful 30+ year career as a computer programmer with Wausau Insurance.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sandy found true happiness in her family. She was a loving and supportive mother to Sara and Ryan, never missing a chance to cheer them on at their sporting events and creating lasting memories on family trips together. Sandy found great joy in her gambling trips with Gary. Her grandsons brought endless happiness to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Sandy enjoyed life’s simple pleasures fishing, sewing, sudoku, and crossword puzzles. She loved time shared with family and friends. Her kindness, quiet strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Wietor of West Bend; two grandchildren, Carson and Hudson Wietor; her sister, Mary (Lyle) Bohn of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, Thomas (Jerilyn) Fischer of West Bend; sister-in-law, Rosemary Small of Seminole, Florida; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary; her parents; her son, Ryan; brothers-in-law, Donald and Bill Fischer; and sister-in-law, Val Fischer.
Heartfelt thanks to Serenity Villa and to all the medical professionals whose care brought comfort to Sandy and our family during this difficult time.
Sandy’s family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with Gary and Ryan, watching over her loved ones with the same warmth and love she shared throughout her life.
