Rosemary Fickert

November 27, 1923 — April 30, 2025

West Bend

Rosemary Fickert, 101, of West Bend, formerly of the town of Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November 27, 1923, in the quaint town of Barton, Rosemary was the cherished daughter of the late Hubert Sr. and Alma (née Staehler) VanBeek. On May 9, 1945, she embarked on a lifelong journey with Wesley Fickert in marriage — a union that lasted until Wesley's passing on January 4, 1999.

With unwavering dedication, Rosemary devoted 33 years of her life to Amity Leather, earning a place in the esteemed 25-Year Club upon her retirement. She and Wesley shared a deep passion for exploration, journeying by car to every corner of the United States, embracing the beauty and diversity of the country.

Her love for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours she spent nurturing her garden and flower beds. A woman of faith and generosity, she also devoted herself to serving both St. Bridget’s and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She found great joy in playing sheepshead, and during her time at Cedar Ridge, she treasured the lively coffee hours, mysterious lunch outings, and scenic bus tours.

Rosemary’s kindness extended to volunteering at the Greenhouse and the Ridge, where she took special care of the resident parakeets. Even in her later years, her spirit remained vibrant, staying actively engaged in her community and embracing life with enthusiasm.

Those Rosemary leaves behind to cherish her memory include two sisters-in-law, Fabia Landini and Carol Brinkmann; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her siblings, Florence (Ken) Hefter, Hubert VanBeek Jr, and Agnes (Walter) Schwartz; infant sister, Mildred; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold (Nadeane) Yogerst, Willard (Sylvia) Gerner, Hilbert (Marie) Yogerst, and Bruno Landini.
