Robert “Bob” George Cook, 89, entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 3, 2026 at Cedar Lake, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 6, 1936. He was a hard worker even as a teenager, sometimes running the shoe store where he was employed when the owner was sick and unable to work. He also had paper routes and mowed lawns for neighbors. After high school, Bob was unsure of what he wanted to do, so he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, specifically choosing the smallest branch of the military. In 1959 he was stationed at Annette Island in Alaska as a radio communications technician. He always mentioned that his claim to fame was being in Alaska when it became a state.

In 1964, Bob graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. During his college years, he met Marilyn Melotik at a combined school gathering. After finally working up the courage to talk to her, they spent some time getting to know each other before he asked for her phone number. She gave it to him verbally, but didn’t expect to hear from him since he didn’t write it down. However, thanks to his excellent memory, he memorized her number instantly & called her the very next day! Bob & Marilyn were married on August 10, 1963 and enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. They were blessed with 4 daughters: Nancy, Susan, Debbie & Jenny.

Bob was an avid reader with a wide variety of interests. Most importantly, he began every morning reading his Bible. He accepted the Lord as his Savior on March 25, 1977. He was faithful to his church and managed the church bookstore for many years. He also loved connecting with others while serving as an usher and greeter.

Bob had many interests. He loved listening to Milwaukee Brewers baseball games on the radio while working outside and also enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers. He was an excellent bowler in high school & continued bowling for many years. Above all, he loved his family and cherished spending time with Marilyn and their daughters. During retirement, Bob and Marilyn enjoyed extensive travels to Israel, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe. After 1 year of retirement, Bob remarked that he had done everything he wanted to do around the house and was now bored! So he went back to work part time at a hardware store and his daughter’s print shop.

Bob was the beloved husband of Marilyn; loving father of Nancy (Wally) Steger, Susan (Rob) Einfalt, Debbie (Scott) Sivnksty and Jenny (Andy) Gaschke; and loving Papa to Sean, Cole and Reid Sivnksty and Heidi, Andrew, Kiersten and Will Gaschke.

The family would like to express our deep appreciation to all who cared for our dear husband and father, from those at Froedert Hospital to the hospice nurses at Cedar Lake. We are so grateful for the kind and excellent care that he received during his final days. Thank you!

There will be a visitation on Monday, June 15 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in West Bend, Wisconsin. A memorial service with military honors will follow at 4:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.

Bob wrote out several thoughts about eternity that he shared with others:

1. We are all sinners that deserve judgement.

2. Regardless of how “good” we are, there is no way for us to get to Heaven through religion or our own efforts.

3. Christ died on the cross to pay the sin penalty collectively for the whole world, and individually for each of us.

4. Eternal life is offered to us as a gift because we cannot earn it. All we can do is acknowledge that we deserve hell, ask Christ to be our Savior, and accept His free gift of salvation.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends would like to purchase a park bench in Bob's memory. It would be placed outside, surrounded by the beautiful, peaceful surroundings of Cedar Ridge in West Bend.
