Obituary

Robert “Bob” George Cook, 89, entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ on June 3, 2026 at Cedar Ridge, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 6, 1936. He was a hard worker even as a teenager, sometimes even running the shoe store where he was employed when the owner was sick & unable to work. He also had paper routes & mowed lawns for neighbors. Bob was unsure of what to do after high school, so he decided to enlist in the United States Coast Guard. At the time he was shy, so he specifically wanted to be in the smallest branch. In 1959 he was stationed at Annette Island in Alaska as a radio communications technician & he would always mention that his claim to fame was that he was in Alaska when it became a state.

He enjoyed the electronics skills that he learned in the Coast Guard so much that he decided to enroll in the Milwaukee School of Engineering. It was during this time that he met Marilyn Melotik at a combine school gathering. After he finally worked up the courage to talk to her, they spent some time getting to know each other & then he asked for her phone number. She verbally gave it to him, but didn’t expect to hear from him as he didn’t write it down. Because of his excellent memory, he memorized her number instantly & called her the very next day! Bob & Marilyn were married on August 10, 1963 & have enjoyed the last 62 years together. They were blessed with 4 girls: Nancy, Sue, Debbie & Jenny.

Bob was an avid reader about many topics. Most importantly, he would start every morning reading his Bible. He accepted the Lord as his Savior on March 25, 1976. He was faithful to church & managed the church bookstore for many years. He loved connecting with others as an usher & greeter.

Bob had a variety of interests: he loved to listen to baseball on the radio as he worked outside; he was an excellent bowler in high school & continued that interest for many years; he loved his family enjoyed spending time with Marilyn & his girls; he & Marilyn enjoyed traveling to Israel, Hawaii, Alaska & Europe during their retirement years. After 1 year of retirement, he mentioned that he had cleaned out the garage & organized basement & that he was bored! So he went back to work part time at a hardware store & his daughter’s print shop.

Bob was the beloved husband of Marilyn; loving father to Nancy (Wally) Steger, Susan “Sue” (Rob) Einfalt, Deborah “Debbie” (Scott) Sivnksty & Jennifer “Jenny” (Andy) Gaschke; loving Papa to Sean, Cole & Reid Sivnksty and Heidi, Andrew, Kiersten & Will Gaschke.

The family will welcome guests on Monday, June 15 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in West Bend, Wisconsin. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.

The family would like to express our deep appreciation for all of those who cared for our dear husband & father, from those at Froedert Hospital to the hospice nurses at Cedar Community. We were so blessed of the excellent care that he received in those last day. Thank you!
