Obituary

He relished the thrill of the wild, embracing the hush of the woods, the bite of winter air, and the sweet taste of freedom.

Peter Norman Ott, 40, of Kewaskum, slipped away on August 1, 2026, after bravely facing injuries for nearly eighteen months. In his final days, he was gently held by the love, prayers, and tender thoughts of everyone who cared for him, their presence a quiet comfort surrounding him to the end.

Peter graduated from Kewaskum High School in 2004. He was a hardworking, determined, genuine man who lived life on his own terms. He was stubborn in the way only Peter could be; once he set his mind to something, there wasn't much that could stop him. He was also an adventurer at heart, always looking for the next challenge, the next trip, or the next reason to say, "Send it."

Peter found some of his greatest peace in the outdoors. He was an avid bow hunter and looked forward to deer hunting and elk hunting trips in the Colorado mountains. Whether he was hunting, fishing, mushroom picking, or snowmobiling, he relished the thrill of the wild, embracing the hush of the woods, the bite of winter air, and the sweet taste of freedom that drifted like wind through the trees. Those who knew him best understood he was never meant to be tethered. Stillness was foreign to Peter; he found his joy in chasing horizons, caking his hands with earth, and weaving memories like footprints on winding trails.

Peter's hands were equally at home with sawdust and timber as with bow and reel. A master craftsman, he poured his soul into Blaze Builders, raising pole barns that stood like sentinels on open land, and roofing homes beneath the vast sky. Blaze Builders was more than a business; it was his monument, built board by board with sweat and vision. He took great pride in shaping things that stood strong against the seasons and weathered time’s storms. In many ways, Peter himself was like the things he built: steadfast, resilient, and forged to endure. tough.

His laughter echoed at the campfire, the warmth of his friendship on cold mornings, and the stories he spun that lingered long after.

Peter’s presence was like a stone cast into a still pond; he sent ripples that touched everyone around him, leaving a mark that could never be washed away. He was genuine to his core, fiercely independent, adventurous in spirit, and unapologetically himself, never hiding the spark that made him unique. Those who knew him remember not just the barns he built or the wild places he explored, but the way his laughter echoed at the campfire, the warmth of his friendship on cold mornings, and the stories he spun that lingered long after the sun dipped below the horizon. His legacy lives on in the countless moments, big and small, that he shared with those lucky enough to walk a stretch of trail beside him.

Peter is survived by his father, Jeffery (Sandra) Ott ; his mother, Jean DeBano; sister, Karen Strobel; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who loved Peter, prayed for him, visited him reached out, and stood beside him and his family throughout the past 18 months. The love and support shown to Peter during his long and difficult fight will never be forgotten.

A very special thank you goes to the many medical professionals and caregivers who cared for Peter throughout the past 18 months. Their skill, patience, compassion, and dedication carried Peter and his loved ones through some incredibly difficult days. We are forever grateful for every person who showed up for Peter and cared for him along the way.

A special thank you is also extended to Clear Sky and especially to Abbie, SLP, for the relationship she built with Peter. What began as care became something much more meaningful. Abbi took the time to truly know Peter, meet him where he was, and connect with him as a person. The bond they formed brought comfort, laughter, and genuine connection during a time when Peter needed it most. That relationship meant more than words can express, and her care for Peter will always be remembered with gratitude.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at Myrhum Patten Funeral and Cremation Service in West Bend (1315 West Washington Street). All who knew and loved Peter are welcome to gather in warmth and remembrance, sharing cherished stories and celebrating the vibrant spirit that touched countless lives. This will be a gentle mingling of hearts, a time for friends and family to reflect on his legacy, honor it, and draw comfort from one another.

The funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm, with Father Neil Zinthefer officiating. In this sacred hour, loved ones will come together to pay tribute to Peter’s journey, his courage, and the love he freely gave. May this gathering be a testament to a life lived boldly, surrounded by those who meant the most.

Peter’s interment will be held on Monday, August 24th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Bridget Cemetery, 9003 Townline Rd, Kewaskum, WI 53040, with Father Neil leading the committal service. Here, among peaceful grounds, family and friends will bid a final farewell, laying Peter to rest with love, gratitude, and gentle remembrance.

Rest easy, Peter. Send it, guy.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." -Thoreau
