Peter Milton Becker, age 77, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, ended his earthly journey and entered a glorious life in heaven on October 21, 2026.
Peter was the youngest of six children, born at home on July 24, 1949, in Lisbon, Wisconsin. He grew up on a family farm in Lake Five, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse for eight years. When his family moved to Watertown, Wisconsin, he attended Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills and graduated in 1967. He furthered his education at UW-Stout in Menomonie.
In 1970, Peter married Linda Kay Hornby in Lake Mills. They were married for 55 plus years and God blessed them with five children.
Peter had a strong faith in his Savior and enjoyed attending church and Bible class regularly. He also served on many boards and committees. His commitment to serving God and his church community was a defining part of who he was.
Peter served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from October 30, 1970, through October 29, 1979, where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant E6.
He spent most of his working life in the construction field, where he was blessed to spend almost 20 years completing projects out of state. He enjoyed working in, living in, and exploring different parts of the county, including Florida, Washington, and Massachusetts. He retired from CD Smith Construction out of Fond du Lac. Shortly after retirement, he was appointed to be the building permit issuer for the Town of Empire, a role he continued to fulfill until his death.
Peter was an avid gardener who loved growing fruits and vegetables to provide for his family. He liked fishing, taking opportunities to go smelting, deep sea fishing on the coasts, and bobber fishing from a little boat on Big Lake, Washington. He enjoyed Friday night fish fries with friends, reading, playing euchre with family and friends, and winning Scrabble games against Linda. He spent many happy hours driving his cousin Dave’s tractors on annual tractor drives.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elenor (Tretow) Becker; his in-laws, Frederick and Malinda (Selle) Hornby; and his sister, Esther Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Peter (Jeannie) Becker and Mark (Jenna Crawford) Becker; daughters, Cheryl Becker, Brenda (Andy) Rix, and Denise (Adam) Retzlaff. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Jesse, Lizzy, Martin, Calvin, Preston, Danielle, Owen, Brian, and Libby – each one special to him in their own way. He is also survived by two brothers, Harvey and Phillip; two sisters, Ruth and Lydia; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
VISITATION: Peter’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 1550 Wildwood Rd. – West Bend, WI 53090.
SERVICE: A Funeral Service in remembrance of Peter will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at church with Pastor Darren Knoll officiating. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the church. Graveside and Burial will be at Empire Cemetery in the Town of Empire.
