Paul Ralph Stier, 78, of West Bend, passed away on September 19, 2026, at Charter Senior Living Center in West Bend.

Paul was born on March 30, 1948 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Leslie and Grace (née Menne) Stier. He grew up in rural New Holstein, Wisconsin and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1966. After high school, Paul worked as a licensed cheesemaker at Lake to Lake Dairy, where he met his future wife and soulmate, Marilyn Hagenow. The couple was united in marriage on May 8, 1971.

Paul obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in business and accounting from Spencerian College in Milwaukee in 1973. In 1974, Paul and Marilyn moved to West Bend when Paul was hired as an accountant for West Bend Transit. Paul worked at West Bend Transit for 38 years, serving in a variety of roles including President, retiring in 2012. Post-retirement, Paul enjoyed volunteering at Full Shelf Food Pantry. Throughout his life, he was not only dedicated to his work, but also to his family, friends and community.

Paul and Marilyn built their lives together in West Bend, raising their three children and always putting family first. Paul took great pride in supporting his children, attending all of their concerts, games, and performances. Annual family vacations to Moon Beach Camp were a highlight for the entire family. He modeled love, loyalty, service of others, and an unmatched work ethic… instilling these values in his children and grandchildren.

Paul and Marilyn were immersed into their church family at Immanuel United Church of Christ of West Bend. Paul enjoyed serving the church as an active member of the property committee, an usher, and a potato masher at Immanuel’s annual election night supper. Paul’s cherished card club was formed from members of his Immanuel family more than 45 years ago.

Beyond family and church, Paul found his greatest joy when outside in nature. Always the farmer at heart, Paul enjoyed plowing fields, manicuring his yard, and spending time in the woods. Cutting his grass brought him great satisfaction - and set the bar for the entire neighborhood.

Paul is survived by his children, Scott (Judy) Stier, Gina (Jason) Bierman, and Holly (Andy) Sherman; and his grandchildren, Julia (Conner) Boldt, Joey Stier, Logan Bierman, Ellee Bierman, Ava Sherman, Lexi Sherman, and Lyla Sherman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn, his parents, Leslie and Grace Stier, and his sister Kathleen Casper.

VISITATION: Paul’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Monday, October 19 at Immanuel UCC (501 Walnut St., West Bend, WI 53095).

SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Immanuel UCC. Inurnment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

Memorials in Paul’s name may be directed to Immanuel UCC of West Bend to support scholarships to Moon Beach Camp and the church’s Building & Grounds Fund.
