Milton Paul Griepentrog, age 95, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Madison.
He was born on December 23, 1930, in the town of Wayne to Oscar and Vinelda (nee Boettcher) Griepentrog. He worked in construction for Super Excavators for 36 years in Butler. Milton loved fishing on the lakes at his cottages, first on Pelican Lake and later on Lake Shawano. He later moved to Madison, where he lived with his sister, Shirley, and brother-in-law, Lee, for more than 20 years. During that time, he became an active member of the Deaf community and enjoyed participating in many events through the Deaf Lutheran church and the Deaf community.
He enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling with his brothers, nephews, and their families, and traveling with those he loved. A hardworking man, he enjoyed being outside, caring for his lake properties, gardening, tending his flowers, and feeding and watching the birds. He loved playing Gin 13 with his family and always seemed to win. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles, many of which he framed for everyone to enjoy.
Milton was persistent, hardworking, genuine, loving, generous, and always had a smile for the ladies at assisted living.
Milton is survived by two sisters, Ruth Sauer of Tomah and Shirley Frazier of Madison; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Griepentrog of Hartford and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lester Griepentrog and Arland Griepentrog, an infant brother, Lloyd, a sister, Carol Volm, Brothers-in-law Merlin Volm, Roman Sauer, Lee Frazier, and sister-in-law Jayne Griepentrog.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Ingrid, a care companion for two years, for her love and care of Milton. He loved the outings and special ice cream treats you brought. In addition, thank you to the Agrace and Brookdale care staff, especially Markeda for the extra special attention you gave him.
Funeral services in remembrance of Milton will be held on Monday, August 17th at 12:00 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allenton. Rev. Steve Bode from Zion Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
