Kewaskum

Mathew John Wildt age 85, of Kewaskum, WI passed away at his Kettle Moraine Gardens home on Saturday, March 22nd. He was surrounded by his loving family in the days and hours leading up to his time of passing.

Matt had a passion for animals, especially horses. Over the years, Matt bred, raised, trained, rode and drove horses. In his early years, he barrel raced and earned many placing ribbons for his efforts. Matt also bred dogs, canaries and many other species of pets with his wife Diana on what some would call “A Hobby Farm Heaven”.

Matt was born on May 9th, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI to Mathias and Elizabeth Wildt. At a very young age Matt was crazy about horses and this carried over well into his later years. Matt could also make anyone laugh and didn’t lose his sense of humor, even in his final days. He could always become the center of attention on a whim with his funny quips and goofy voices.

If you knew Matt, you knew him to look for a deal. If he couldn’t find one, he talked his way into one. He was known to bargain for something he never intended to buy, only just to do it! Matt was also never too big on being “fancy”. His idea of dressed up was a buttoned-down, short-sleeve plaid shirt and gym shorts (worn daily), and his favorite meal was creamed corn and boiled potatoes! He was also known to love sweets (especially ice cream and cheese cake) and drank an estimated 4,356,784 diet cokes over his lifetime. Matt was never short on love for his grandchildren. They always brought a smile to his face and they always made him proud to be their grandpa. Matt also loved his Grand Kitties, Zeus, Bently, and The Schmütz and Grand Doggies, Thor, Bruno, and Dave.

Matt is survived by his loving children; Son’s, Brian (Jackie) Wildt, Brett (Tracy) Wildt, Tim Wildt, and daughter, Kari Wildt; Grandchildren, Brooke, Bryce, and Brady Wildt; Brothers, Ken (Nancy) Wildt, Jim (Pat) Wildt; Special Niece-In-Law who was like a daughter, Toni Kubasiak; Brother-In-Law, Jack (Gail) Planinshek; and many other beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana Mae Wildt; father, Mathias Wildt; Mother, Elizabeth Wildt; Brother, Roy Wildt; father-in-law, Anthony Planinshek; mother-in-law, Dorothy Planinshek; Sister-In-Law, Mary Alice Wildt; Sister-In-Law, Rose Wendt, and many other loved ones.
