Mary Ann Anderson (Koppelman), 73, of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Ann was born on May 22, 1952, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Henry William Koppelman and Ruth Alice (Sherry) Koppelman. She was raised with strong values of faith, service, and devotion to family—principles that guided her throughout her life.
On April 22, 1978, she married the love of her life, Lee Anderson, in West Bend, Wisconsin. Together they built a life centered on faith and family as they raised their children, Tom and Julie.
Mary Ann dedicated 32 years to education, teaching in both the West Bend and Slinger School Districts. She served her students with patience, kindness, and steady encouragement.
She was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend and was active in Bible study groups, book club, and gardening. She also gave her time to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, the YMCA, Care Ministries, and meal ministry efforts.
Mary Ann found her greatest joy in her family and deeply cherished her time as Nana to her grandchildren—Jovie Anderson, Thomas Anderson, and Jaden Kesler. She loved baking with them, attending their sporting events, “surprise day trips,” and creating lasting memories together. Being “Nana” was one of the roles she cherished most, and her love, encouragement, and steady presence will remain with them always.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Anderson; her son, Tom (Tammy) Anderson of Slinger, WI; her daughter, Julie (Ben) Schickert of West Bend, WI; her brother, Henry” Hank” Koppelman; her beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tom Koppelman.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her steadfast faith and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the memories she created.
Visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church (809 S 6th Ave. - West Bend, WI 53095) on Friday, March 6, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassion International or St. John’s Lutheran School.
