NEW START TIME FOR VISITATION
Marlene M. Yoost, 70, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
Marlene entered the world on April 17, 1955, in West Bend, the cherished daughter of Lawrence and Irene (nee Thill) Esselman. On September 21, 1974, she pledged her love to James “Jim” Yoost in a joyful ceremony at Holy Angels Catholic Church, also in West Bend. Their marriage was a beautiful journey until Jim’s passing on August 27, 2023.
A proud graduate of West Bend West High School, Marlene went on to earn her associate’s degree in nursing from Moraine Park Technical College, fulfilling her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She dedicated her career to caring for others, serving as an ICU nurse at Froedtert West Bend Hospital for over 30 years, while also holding the honorable role of Washington County Coroner for a decade.
Even in retirement, Marlene’s compassion never slowed. She gave her time generously to Cedar Community and local nursing homes, where she also served as a eucharistic minister, bringing comfort and faith to many.
Together, Marlene and Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures, traveling, camping, and strolling along the trails of Mauthe Lake. Her heart was especially tender towards dogs. Yet, nothing brought her greater happiness than being with her grandchildren. She delighted in cheering them on at their sporting events, treasuring every moment spent by their side.
Those Marlene leaves behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carrie (Craig) Broker of Hartford; two grandchildren, Paige and Lucas Broker; her siblings, Mel (Jane) Esselman, Roger Esselman, and Karen Van Roo; and many many friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Gordy Esselman and a brother-in-law, Jim Van Roo.
