Marilyn A.
Zimmermann
June 19, 1931 – May 9, 2026
Marilyn Anne Zimmermann (nee Wolfert), age 94, of Sheboygan Falls, WI was greeted by our Heavenly Father on May 9th 2026.
Marilyn was born on June 19, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Edward and Vera Wolfert. She was baptized by her Presbyterian uncle, Rev. LaVern Sandy. Marilyn married Richard Zimmermann on June 21st, 1952. She is survived by her three children David (Terry) Zimmermann, Jean (Douglas) Brannagan, Carol Zimmermann; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Marilyn moved to Springfield, Massachusetts when she was four years old, where she graduated from Classical High School in 1948. After high school, Marilyn moved with her family to Evansville, Indiana. Shortly after, Marilyn attended Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University). After attending a football game at Carnegie Mellon, Marilyn met her future husband on campus in 1948. She graduated with a BS in education.
Marilyn moved with her husband to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked. Unfortunately, Marilyn could not teach in Cleveland because schools did not want married women teaching at the time. After her husband's father had a heart attack, Marilyn moved to Sheboygan where Richard started working at Zimmermann Printing.
She raised a family, taught Sunday School at First United Lutheran Church where she was a charter member, led a Cub Scout and Brownie pack, worked for the University of Michigan Research Department, and worked at Zimmermann Printing part-time. She was active in the Sheboygan Service Club and a member of the Young of Heart organization at church.
Marilyn and Richard moved to Georgetown Texas in 1998 to be closer to their daughter Jean. Missing Wisconsin, Marilyn and Richard moved to West Bend in 2011. After Richard’s death in 2022, Marilyn moved back to the Sheboygan area.
Marilyn was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf. She and Richard enjoyed traveling all over the US (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Turkey.
Marilyn handled the last year of life with grace and courage through all her difficulties. We’ll miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care at the end of her life.
A family funeral service is planned.
A Memorial fund has been established in her name at the Sheboygan Salvation Army.
