Lester L. Menzel, Jr. age 91 years, of Beechwood entered Eternal Life on May 14, 2026, at Froedtert West Bend Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Lester was born on July 8, 1934 in Woodstock, Illinois to Lester and Gladys Menzel (nee Smith). He was united in marriage to Mary J. Williams on April 6, 1957 in Woodstock, Illinois.
Lester graduated from Woodstock Community High School. He proudly served in United States Army and was stationed in Korea for 2 years, and was a member of American Legion Post #384 in Kewaskum. Lester worked at ANR Pipeline for 40+ years. Lester enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, gardening, woodworking, bird watching, traveling, playing Pinochle, and watching the Packers, Bucks, and Brewers.
Those Lester leaves behind to cherish his memory include his six children, David (Vicki) Menzel, Debbie (special friend Doug) Feuerhammer, Denise Nowakowski, Donna Reilly, Dan Menzel, and Don (Lori) Menzel; 9 grandchildren, Jason Menzel, Andrea (Chris) Harmsen, Katie (Tom) Schellinger, Haley (Cody Ellis) Nowakowski, Aric (Nicole) Reilly, Lindley Reilly, Bryan (Rachel) Reilly, Emma Menzel, and Ben Menzel; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Nolan, Josh, Violet, Autumn, Noah, Isaac, Eleanor, Audrey, and Natalie. He is further survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers-in-law, William (Harriett) Williams, Jack (Virginia) Williams, William Schauer, Martin Halma, and Bob Davidson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Menzel; niece, Susan Williams; nephew, Roger Halma; grandson, Samuel Nowakowski; and son-in-law, Edward Reilly.
VISITATION: Lester’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service – 215 Forest Ave. – Kewaskum, WI 53040.
SERVICE: A Funeral Service in remembrance of Lester will take place at 12:00 Noon on Friday at the funeral home, followed by military honors.
Private Family Interment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park at a later date.
The family would like to thank Denise for the loving care of her parents for the final years of their lives, and to the staff of the Beechwood First Responders.
