Leander A. "Lee" Oppermann

September 28, 1943 — October 19, 2025

Leander (Lee) A. Oppermann, age 82, of Kewaskum, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at his home in Kewaskum.

Lee was born on September 28, 1943 on the family farm in Campbellsport to the late Henry and Verna (Butzke) Oppermann. He was united in marriage to Janis Kohn on May 1, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. He was a lifelong member of St John Lutheran Church in New Fane and proudly served the Lord on church council for many years. Lee dedicated his whole life to the family farm and continued to work until a few weeks prior to his passing. The farm brought him great joy and fulfillment. He also worked at Gehl Company in his younger years. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan and loved to hunt.

Lee was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his three sons, Corey (Jennifer) Oppermann of Campbellsport, Shane (Melissa) Oppermann of West Bend, and Sheldon (Jess) Oppermann of Milwaukee; his two granddaughters, Lauren (CJ) Lass of Galesville and Sara Oppermann (fiancé Jamison Mulvey, Jr.) of West Bend; three sisters, Sandra Harter of River Falls, Claudia Skrentny of Kewaskum, and Judith Oppermann of Kewaskum; two brothers, Ronald (Barbara) of Campbellsport and Henry (Ann Carmichael) of Puerto Vallarta; and many other relatives and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Janis; his parents, Henry and Verna; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Harter and brother-in-law, Clayton Kohn, Jr..

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at St John Lutheran Church (New Fane). Burial will follow the service in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to Dr. Mooney and his staff at the Froedtert Cancer Center; Erika, a Cancer Center lab technician, Horizon Hospice and CAREing Hand nursing staff and Pastor Eckert for the care provided to Lee and the family. The family would also like to thank the numerous family, neighbors and friends that offered assistance and support during Lee’s long battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St John Lutheran New Fane stained glass window restoration fund are appreciated. Donations may be mailed to St. John Lutheran Church, N683 Cty. Rd. S, Kewaskum, WI – 53040.
