Laurie Ann Callies, 75, passed away on September 8th, 2026, surrounded by her children, the love of her life, and other loved ones. She was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Laurie was born on August 7th, 1951, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to Francis John and Molly Ann (nee Brennan) Miller. Her siblings described her as a spunky, vivacious child full of life. As a child and teenager, she enjoyed helping others and often took a quiet moment before her next adventure. At Hustisford High School, her classmates loved her for staying true to herself and spreading joy to those around her.

Laurie married Ron Leinen Senior in 1968, and together they had three children who became her pride and joy. They put down roots in Iron Ridge. Laurie worked in manufacturing until her retirement. She became St. Lawrence's first female volunteer firefighter.

Laurie loved the outdoors and shared this passion with her sons, who also enjoyed spending time in nature. She served as a Cub Scout Den Leader, taking the scouts on adventures and sharing her love of holidays. She had the scouts make ornaments that she kept for life, and they became the most prized decorations on her Christmas tree.

As the family fun ambassador, Laurie organized holiday festivities, events, and family reunions. When her grandchildren came along, she enjoyed hosting festive sleepovers, joining them in activities with a cheerful spirit. Laurie was independent and marched to the beat of her own drum.

After her retirement, Laurie sold her house in West Bend and moved to Montello, Wisconsin. There, she met her soulmate, Harold McCormick. Together they loved gardening, camping, playing cards, and being around her loving friends who shared her interests. It was not uncommon to see her socializing at the campground, sharing stories with friends, and cruising around on her golf cart.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Molly; her younger sister, Bonnie; her brother-in-law, Tom Schuster, whom she affectionately called “Schuster!”; and her dear friends, Peggy Bertling and Shirley McCormick.

Laurie is survived by Harold “Hubby” McCormick and their beloved dog, Thunder; three loving children, Glenn (Melanie) Leinen, Ron (Cheryl) Leinen, and Lanna (Scott) Vercauteren; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Lemke, Brittany (Jon) Ormandroyd, Courtney (Bijan) Leinen, Brianna (Jeff) Leinen, Heather (Joe) Leinen, Eric (Aryn) Leinen, Brittney Smit, Lexi Vercauteren, and Ally Vercauteren; great-grandchildren, Austin, Bryce, Audrey, Maximus, Baby “O,” Cooper, and Kaiden; siblings, Linda Thoe, Susie (Red) Walter, John (Karen) Miller, Glenn Miller, Mary (Dave) Birkenheier, Patti (Dave) Schimpf, Colleen Schuster, and Fran (Ron) Beall; her best friends, Karen and Gennie; and many other family and friends. Her family would also like to mention her three loving stepchildren, Becky, Gary, and Amy, whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service in West Bend, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, September 15th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests are invited to share their favorite memories during the final hour of visitation.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Parish in West Bend, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, September 16th, at 11:00 a.m. Father Brady Gagne will officiate the Christian Burial Mass. Family will begin receiving guests from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for those unable to attend the visitation the previous evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, the Lupus Foundation, or the Crohn’s Foundation. These causes have directly impacted her loved ones, and your support for ongoing research is sincerely appreciated.
