Obituary

Kay Ann Voll (nee Wandrey), 84

November 27, 1941 – July 4, 2026

Kay passed away after living with Alzheimer’s Disease for 5 years. The last year was at Compassionate Heights Assisted Living Home in Beechwood, where Kay had wonderful care from their staff and the Preceptor Hospice nurses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Adeline (nee Kroll) Wandrey.

Kay was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School mid-semester 1959-1960. She started at Wisconsin State College at LaCrosse where she earned her Teaching Degree in Physical Education. She met Ken, while in LaCrosse, and they were married on August 17, 1963, in Milwaukee, they would have celebrated their 63-year anniversary in August.

Kay taught Physical Education for 3 years at Gale-Ettrick High School just north of LaCrosse while Ken finished his degree. The couple moved to Big Cedar Lake and both taught at Cedar Grove High School for 1 year. Then they moved to West Bend, where Kay became a mother to Kristin, Karin, Kent, and Kelly. She had a second part-time career at West Bend Memorial Library for 18 years. Kay loved reading, this was the perfect fit.

Kay had a passion for life on Big Cedar Lake, where she had spent her life swimming, sailing, and fishing. Kay and Ken moved to the family cottage at the lake in 2012. Kay had many interests, playing the violin, collecting Big Cedar Lake postcards, mosaic pins, Raggedy Ann Dolls, books, and listening to Big Band and Smooth Jazz music. She cherished holidays and decorating for her family.

Kay is survived by her husband, Ken Voll of Big Cedar Lake; daughters, Kristin of Phoenix, AZ; Karin of Boulder, CO; and Kelly of Springfield, OR; son, Kent (Sarah) of West Bend; grandson, Kyle; and granddaughter, Abigail.
