Irene Mae Welzien

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Welzien, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Irene passed away on September 10, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend.

Irene was known for her outgoing personality and her love of being around people. She dedicated many years of her life to helping others explore the world as a travel agent, and her enthusiasm for travel was contagious. Irene and her husband, Jay, shared countless adventures together, including frequent trips to Las Vegas and peaceful getaways to Port Washington and Michigan. Whether near the water or in the excitement of a new city, Irene thrived in the joy of new experiences.

Above all, Irene cherished her family. She always put her family first. Her kindness extended to her love for dogs, and she was a passionate supporter of the Lions Club and Leader Dogs for the Blind, where she dedicated her time and energy to helping those in need.

Irene’s generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, adventure, and an unwavering love for the people that touched her life.

Irene is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Jay; daughters, Jessica R. Mastenbrook and Karrie A. Olson (Steve); grandchildren, Evan, Chase and Marissa Mastenbrook, Addison and Paige Olson; siblings Pauline M. Pliska and Kathleen G. Seibel and many dear friends that became family. She is preceded in death by her parents, George J. Beck and Gertrude R. Braasch.

Visitation: Irene’s family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 until 5:45pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 501 Walnut Street, West Bend, WI 53095.

Service: A Memorial Service in remembrance of Irene will take place at 6pm on Thursday at the church with Pastor Steve Hecky officiating.

The family is requesting that you wear a little bling/sparkle in remembrance of Irene.
