Obituary

George Ripley Lund, age 73 years, of Lomira was called home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2026, at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Mayville surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on September 24, 1952, in Fond du Lac to Edward Charles Lund Sr. and Gladys Mae Lund (nee Orr). He was united in marriage to Sharon Mae Retzlaff on April 14, 1973, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira.

George graduated from Lomira High School in 1971. He enjoyed camping, watching sporting events (NASCAR races and the Packers and Brewers – especially when they were winning), but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. George and his siblings were “Wizard of Oz” aficionados and could act out the scenes and recite the dialog to anyone interested (and some people that weren’t).

Those George leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 53 years, Sharon; three children, Troy (Barb) Lund, “deprived middle child” Bradley Lund, and Kelly Jo (Christopher) Moore; nine grandchildren, Avery, Hailey (fiancé Brandon), Ethan (special friend Jordan), Chase, Gavin (special friend Jennifer), Cole, Gabriel (Megan), Abigail (special friend Wyatt), and Matthew; and two sisters, Sandy (Ed) Berger and Karen Seichter. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Judy Lund, Sandra Tremors, Karen (Doug) Waehler, and Kay McClanathan; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Sue) Retzlaff and Dale (special friend Frank) Retzlaff; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Forgue; brother, Edward Charles Lund, Jr; brother-in-law, Dick Seichter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aaron Herman Retzlaff and Gertrude Esther Retzlaff (nee Gassner); and other loved ones.

VISITATION: George’s family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service – 350 Main St. Lomira, WI 53048)

SERVICE: A Memorial Service in remembrance of George will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Donations can be directed to the family or to a kidney health charity of your choice.

George fought hard for the last five months, and the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert Hospital, Kathy Hospice (from which he graduated), and Prairie Ridge Assisted Living of Mayville for their care and compassion.
