Frederick P. “Fred” Bleck, 89 years, of West Bend, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at Betty’s Harbor at New Perspective.
Fred was born January 26, 1936, to the late Frank and Rose (Dickmann) Bleck in the town of Auburn. He attended Waucousta State Grade School and graduated from Campbellsport High School with the Class of 1954. Fred joined the U.S. Navy in February 1956. After boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Fred was transferred to Treasure Island, California. He then was assigned to Okinawa and Hawaii. Shortly after being discharged from the Navy, Fred started his employment at Gehl Company in 1959. On October 7, 1961, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Anhauser at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Campbellsport. They enjoyed over 63 years of married life together.
He enjoyed over 39 years with Gehl Company retiring in 1998. Through the years, Fred enjoyed further education and went back to school at Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) in West Bend and received an accounting degree. After retiring from Gehl Company, he worked at Samaritan as a CNA for couple of years until Barbara retired.
His love for sports continued after high school including following his children and grandchildren through their grade and high school years. He enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball games. He especially enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette Eagles, Milwaukee Bucks, and Milwaukee Brewers. Among other interests was his love of outdoors and his hunting dogs. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Fred and Barbara traveled to Jamaica, Mexico, four islands of Hawaii (Oahu, Hawaii, Maui & Kauai), Alaska, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Tortola, Antigua, Barbados, and St. Thomas. Their travels to Europe took them through the Countries of Italy, Switzerland including the Swiss Alps, France including spending a couple extra days in Paris and then taking the Euro train through the channel to London, England. They also traveled through many of the states in the U.S.
Fred will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara; his children Brian Bleck and Michelle (Kurt) Mehring; grandchildren, Josh (Kellyn) Bleck, Jessica (Evan) Robertson, Sarah Mehring, and Courtney (Eric) Zeman; great-grandchildren, Easton, Dakota and Camden Bleck, and Brodie Robertson; sister, Ruth Graves; sister-in-law Mary (Eugene) Biegler; together with many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Rose Bleck; three brothers, Wilmer Bleck, Otto (Annette) Bleck and Alvin Bleck; three sisters, Althea (Herman) Ringhand, Rosella (Thomas) Seidl, and Laverne (Louis) Meilke; mother-in-law, Evangeline (Erwin) Kolitz; father-in-law, John Anhauser; brother-in-law, Ronald Roth; and nieces and nephews.
We invite you to celebrate Fred’s life with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 6, 2025, at Holy Angels Church, 138 North 8th Avenue, West Bend with the Father Russell Arnett presiding. Fred’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A private family entombment on Monday immediately following Mass at Washington County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorials would be appreciated to Holy Angels School Trust Fund, Kiwanis Early Risers (PO Box 501, West Bend, WI 53095), or a charity of your choice.
