In the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Catherine “Cathy” Halsne (Kray) went to eternal rest in the comfort of her home and the love of her family.

Born on June 2, 1950 in Appleton, Wisconsin, Cathy was a daughter of Gordon and Bernice (Dercks) Kray. She graduated from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing.

Robert Halsne, a Navy sailor, caught Cathy’s eye and the two were married on November 27, 1971. They moved to Hawaii for Robert’s service, and relocated back to Wisconsin, where they settled in Colgate and raised their beautiful family.

Cathy was a caring and doting person. She used these qualities well in her 40+ year career as a Registered Nurse. But, Cathy’s life was also full of heartache. She lost her husband and three sons. Despite all this, Cathy remained strong and humble. Cathy was a loving mother and grandmother.  Her kindness will remain in the hearts of everyone she knew forever.

She leaves behind four children, Scott (Laurie) Halsne, Michael (Julie) Halsne, Jonathan Halsne, and Amy (Kristopher) Bonack; and grandchildren, Elle, Robert, Owen (Hannah), Elijah, Isaac, Jaxson, Savanna, and Timothy.

Cathy is further survived by her five siblings, Barbara (Michael) Berndt, Patricia (Rodney) Hoppe, Dennis (Jeanne) Kray, Robert Kray, and James (Jenny) Kray.

Greeting Cathy in heaven include her parents, Gordon and Bernice Kray; parents-in-law, Elmer and Marie Halsne; husband, Robert; and her three sons, David, Timothy, and Andrew.

VISITATION: The family will great relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at Appleton Highland Memorial Park (3131 N Richmond St. Appleton, WI 54911).

SERVICE: A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 in the chapel in Appleton Highland Memorial Park (3131 N Richmond St. Appleton, WI 54911). Cathy will lay in eternal peace with her husband and children.
