Obituary

Bonnie Leona Wenzlaff, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Bonnie was born on January 17, 1943, in West Bend to the late Werner and Loretta (nee Berres) Wenzlaff.

Bonnie had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable. As Master Gardener, gardening was one of her greatest joys—not only tending flowers and plants, but teaching others, especially children, how things grew and why nature mattered. Her love for gardening was such a part of her identity that she often painted one thumbnail green as a playful nod to her “green thumb” and her remarkable ability to make things flourish.

Bonnie found beauty in creativity and expression, whether through drawing, painting, doodling during long phone calls, quilting, or decorating statues and plant pots with artistic flair.

Animals held a special place in her heart. She adored long-haired dogs and found brushing them therapeutic, enjoying the companionship they brought. She also loved Siamese cats, whose personality and elegance matched her appreciation for character and charm. Her dog, Luma, and Siamese cat, Blia, will miss her tremendously.

Her work reflected her love of people and creativity. She enjoyed sales because it allowed her to connect with others, and she especially loved advertising—both selling ads and artistically designing and laying them out by hand. She had an eye for presentation and took pride in making things attractive and engaging.

She was known for arriving “fashionably late” to gatherings, often making an entrance that perfectly suited her vibrant personality. She enjoyed being the center of attention, especially during celebrations like her birthday, where her warmth, humor, and lively spirit naturally drew people in.

Above all, she deeply loved her family. She treasured each grandchild and great-grandchild as they entered her life, embracing them with pride, affection, and joy. She always looked forward to updates on each grandchild’s activities, life-happenings, and up-coming plans. Through her creativity, love of people and animals, and vibrant personality, she left lasting impressions and cherished memories for all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her children, Timothy Krejci, Janine (Daniel) Prunty, and Jennifer (Eric) Zarda; grandchildren, Daniel (Karlye) Krejci, Alex (Cierrah) Prunty, Ashley Prunty, Marissa (Logan) Baxter, Zachary (Melanie) Prunty, and Jaxsyn (Lexi) Zarda; great-grandchildren, Collin Krejci, Blake Krejci, Ruby Prunty, and Remi Prunty; brothers, Robert Wenzlaff and Joesph Wenzlaff; sister, Kristine Aagerup; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, friends, and other family members.
