BEATRICE (BEATY) PETER passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Saturday, February 22, 2014, with her family at her side.
Her life began on April 28, 1924, as the precious daughter to the late Joseph and Florence (Berres) Matenaer. She was united in marriage to Leonard (Bill) Peter on June 27, 1946, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Her loving husband preceded her in death on October 8, 2005.
Beaty resided primarily in Washington County where she was a “farm girl” and housewife most of her life. She also enjoyed being a loyal secretary at various times for local businesses. She will be remembered as one who loved church and was a very active member of St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in St. Kilian.
Besides being the hardest worker possible, she still had time to be the best mother in the world! Simple things like riding horses, watching for Blue Birds, growing flowers, and planting gardens brought unbelievable happiness to Beaty throughout her life. She also found time to write in her diaries daily for over 50 years. And at every family function, Beaty was always the one behind the camera! Teaching the value of life to her children and showing her love and respect to her husband were definitely her greatest attributes. She also taught others through the 4-H program and belonged to the local Homemakers’ Club. Beaty will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Those Beatrice leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Patti (David) Ramthun, Jan Jordan, Kathi (Daniel) Cain and Tom Peter; six grandchildren, Terry (Jessica) Jordan, Jenny (Billy) Hafemann, Eric Cain (fiancee, Anna Gitter), Ross Cain, Dustin Peter and Brandon Peter; two great grandchildren, Paige Beatrice Jordan and Chase Lee Jordan; two brothers, Joe (Donna) Matenaer and Robert (Carol) Matenaer; three sisters, Rita Dwyer, Sylvia Bohn and Ann Casper; four sisters-in-law, Rose Peter, Janice Matenaer, Diane Pfister and Kitty Matenaer, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Matenaer, Jerry Matenaer, and James Matenaer; three brothers-in-law, Chuck Dwyer, Lee Bohn and Herman Casper and a sister-in-law, Euna Matenaer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at noon on Monday, March 3, 2014, at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church located at N189 Hwy W, Campbellsport, Wisconsin, 53010. Father Chuck Wrobel officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
The Miller funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Beaty’s arrangements.
A very special “Thank You” would like to be given to the staff of Autumn Oaks Assisted Living Center of Slinger, Wisconsin, and the Seasons’ Hospice Organization for the special care and love given to Beaty in her time of need during the last days of her life here on earth!
