Arlene E. Jones

November 6, 1932 — November 3, 2025

Jackson

Arlene E. Jones (Calenberg), age 92 years, of Jackson was called home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2025, at Forest View Manor in Jackson surrounded by her loving family.

Arlene was born on November 6, 1932, at the family farm in Hartford, Wisconsin to Philip and Anna Calenberg (Werner). She was the youngest of three children. When she was 8 years old, the family moved to Milwaukee.

Arlene graduated from Girls Tech in Milwaukee in 1950. She married the late John Jones in 1953. In 1958, the couple moved to a 60-acre farm in Liminga in Houghton, Michigan. There were lots of animals on the farm, especially horses. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company which later became part of AT&T. Arlene was a Girl Scout Leader for several years.

After Arlene and John divorced, she moved to Houghton and was a foster mom for countless boys. Michigan Bell started closing offices so she moved several times due to her job. She lived in Iron Mountain, Marquette, and Grand Rapids, Michigan. After she retired in 1989, she moved back to Wisconsin to be near her family.

Arlene loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing stories, and especially laughter. She loved to travel by car and made trips to Arizona, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Florida. In 1996, she drove to Alaska with a friend and it was “the best trip of her life.”

Those Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory include two daughters, Joni Jones and Jeanne (Greg) St. Amour; six grandchildren, Kelly (David) Depies, Scott (Katie) Healy, Michelle (Nouphone) Subknaha, Krista (Chad) Van Tol, Brion (Amber) St. Amour, and Adam (Rachel) St. Amour; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Jones Strauch; brother, Werner (Barbara) Calenberg; sister, Janet (Ralph) Ladewig; and sister-in-law, Betty (Frank) Odenwald; and brother-in-law, William Jones.

The family is holding a private service in remembrance of Arlene.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff at Forest View Manor and Preceptor Hospice for their care and compassion.
