Virginia E. Oppermann

Virginia E. Oppermann, 91, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Samaritan Health Center, with her family at her side.

Virginia was born on June 24, 1927, in the town of Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Arnold and Eleanore (nee Doms) Schmidt. On August 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ruben Oppermann at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. Ruben preceded Virginia in death on November 13, 1974.

Virginia loved to cook for her family and hosting events at her house and she enjoyed researching her genealogy.

Those Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory include a daughter, Mae Oppermann of Kewaskum; a daughter-in-law, Patricia (James) Smith of Kewaskum; two grandchildren, Nikki (Doug) Hiatt and Ruben “Buddy” Oppermann (Rachelle); three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, and Spencer Hiatt; two brothers, Roger (Pat) Schmidt and Arthur (Donna) Schmidt; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Ruben Oppermann Sr. and two brothers, Wilmer Schmidt and William Schmidt.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, N683 County Road S, Kewaskum, in New Fane. Rev. Mark Eckert will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Virginia’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
