Virginia Mae (Julius) Mayhew

Virginia M. Mayhew, 97, of Fond du Lac, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Lutheran Homes & Health Services in Fond du Lac.

Virginia was born on the last day of 1919, in Brownsville, the daughter of the late George and Leona (nee Bastian) Julius and on July 29, 1939, she was united in marriage to Willard Mayhew at First Presbyterian Church in Fond du Lac.  After 55 years of marriage Willard preceded Virginia in death on July 12, 1995.

Virginia will fondly be remembered for her love of playing games.  She enjoyed a good game of cards and playing with her grandchildren.  Virginia was an avid Brewers and Packers fan.  Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family, especially on Holidays when everyone was together.  Virginia was a member of the Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

Those Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory include five children, Carole (Raymond) Smith of Hustisford, Linda (Michael) Conrad of North Fond du Lac, James Sr. (Cheryl) Mayhew of Oregon, Timm (special friend Karen) Mayhew of South Byron and Tom (Joanne) Mayhew of Hailey, ID; a daughter-in-law, Faith Mayhew of Fond du Lac; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren, with two on the way; a sisters-in-law, Joan Boehme of Johnson Creek, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a son Dennis Mayhew; a granddaughter, Cheryl Shilts; a great-granddaughter Heather Conrad; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Mayhew; a sister, Alice “Mickey” (Jack); nine sisters-in-law and her parents-in-law.

A funeral service for Virginia will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church St. in Lomira with Rev. Rom Pegram officiating.

The Mayhew family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
