Ruth (Barth) Richter

Ruth Richter (nee Barth), age 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Samaritan Health Center with her loving family by her side.

Ruth was born on April 15, 1916 in West Bend to the late Walter and Julia (nee Richter) Barth.  On October 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Richter in Dubuque, Iowa.  Ruth helped her husband run their used car dealership and salvage dealership for many years and served as the secretary and treasurer for the business.  Jerry preceded Ruth in death on April 7, 1996.  Ruth enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking on her wood burning stove.

Ruth is survived by her two nephews, Dick (Gwen Brodzeller) Rosenthal of West Bend and Bob (Pam) Schumacher of West Bend; a great niece, Amy (Chuck) Marx; two great-nephews, Scott and Jamie Schumacher; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mildred Rosenthal-Kochansky and Meta Schumacher.

Inurnment of Ruth’s cremated remains will be in Washington County Memorial Park.

Ruth’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Tri-Manor and to the 3rd floor staff of the Samaritan Health Center for the kindness and care that was given to Ruth and her family.
