Robert R. “Bob” Zimmerman, age 87 years, of Fond du Lac passed away on August 3, 2018 at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on April 21, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Gustave and Helen Zimmerman (Volling). On July 2, 1952 he was united in marriage to the late June Ruecker at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.
Bob graduated from Mayville High School in 1949 and then traveled overseas to Korea to honorably serve in the United States Army. He belonged to the American Legion for over 50 years. Bob owned and operated Oak Park Acres, Mayville Heating & Sheet Metal, and Bill’s Sport Shop. He was an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt. Some of his best times were spent on Lake Winnebago fishing for walleye. Always a handy-man, Bob could fix anything.
Those Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, Patrick (Liza Allen) Zimmerman, Nikki (Robert) Devine, Michael (Lori) Zimmerman, and Kelli (Andy) Zimmerman-Klemp; five grandchildren, Peter (Jenna Perkins), Matt, Max, Tara, Ty; four great-grandchildren and two on the way. Further survived by brother-in-law, Jim Ruecker; sister-in-law, Gerry Zimmerman, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, June; Bob was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Robin Zimmerman and Traci Zimmerman; brother, Gustave Zimmerman, Jr.; brother-in-law, Ralph Ruecker; and two sisters-in-law, Pearl Dejanovich and Mary Lou Zangl.
Bob requested no services to be held. Memorials can be directed to Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope (400 County Rd K – Fond du Lac, WI 53937)
