Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael "Mike The Mailman" Smith

October 21, 1950 ~ November 16, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Michael “Mike The Mailman” Smith, 67, of Kewaskum was delivered to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was born on October 21, 1950 to Desmond and Valeria (nee Koerble) Smith in West Bend, Wisconsin. Mike graduated from Kewaskum High School. He honorably served in the United States Army as a MP in Vietnam. On October 10, 1970 he was united in marriage to Marcia Norskog at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Mike worked at the Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline in both Wisconsin and Oklahoma. After leaving the pipeline he owned and operated an A&W Restaurant in Oklahoma. In 1980, the family moved back to Kewaskum where he worked at the United States Postal Service for almost 30 years until he retired in 2007. Mike was an active member in the American Legion, Rural Carrier Postal Union, and was the Chairman of the St Lucas Cemetery Board for Lutheran Memorial Park. He enjoyed ice fishing, trap shooting, and deer hunting especially with his grandson Mark, his hunting buddy. But mostly, Mike was faith in action taking care of all his friends, family and even strangers. He lived to serve everyone around Kewaskum. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids, having baptized them all (including Daley). Mike and Marcia fulfilled a life-long dream to own a cottage up north where he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren who called him “Buppa”. He even got his new boat to take the boys tubing and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years, Marcia Smith; his mother, Valeria Strobel (Smith); two children, Brian Smith and Lisa (David #13) Sarnowski; four grandchildren, Mark Smith, Logan Smith, Desmond Sarnowski, Stella Sarnowski; his sister, Bonnie (Allen) Koepke; his brother, Dennis (Barb Philibert) Smith; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Norskog; his sister-in-law, Debbie (Pat) Staehler; three brothers-in-law, Kenton (Chris) Norskog, Terry (Renee) Norskog, Bob (Sue) Norskog; a special Aunt, Betty (Bill) Homuth; and special cousins, Brad (Gail) Homuth and Ron (Annette) Dorzok; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Desmond Smith; stepfather, Lester Strobel; father-in-law, Merlin Norskog; best friend and cousin, George Martin.
