Margaret Louise Metz

Margaret Louise Metz, age 92 years, of West Bend, formerly of St. Kilian, was called home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2019 at Ivy Manor in West Bend surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret was born on January 19, 1927 in Gadsden, Alabama to James and Georgia Holderfield (Cason).  She was united in marriage to Mathias J. Metz on October 13, 1945 in Gasden, Alabama.

Margaret loved taking care of animals.  She raised dogs, rabbits and birds.  Margaret’s passion was fishing.  Gardening, canning and decorating for Christmas were also important to Margaret.  She always enjoyed watching the Brewers or playing a game of Bingo, Yahtzee or putting puzzles together.  Her favorite music was old time country and polka.  She was also able to live out her life long dream by going to the Grand Ole Opry.  Margaret truly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchilden and great-great grandchildren.

Those Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory include her four children, Kenneth (Linda) Metz, Mary (Robert) Breit, Teresa (Neil) Brooks, Elizabeth (Rob) Bergeson; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Mathias; four sons, Jerome, Michael, Thomas, and John; two grandsons, Charles “Chuck” and Richard “Rick”; seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Service for Margaret will be held at 6 pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Myrhum Patten Miller Kietzer Funeral Home (1315 W Washington St.  – West Bend, WI  53095) with Father Pat Heppe officiating. Interment at Holy Angels Cemetery in West Bend.

Margaret’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 pm until the time of service. 

Margaret’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Ivy Manor, Serenity Hospice and ComForCare for the loving care they provided.
