I graduated from WBHS with Joe. Unfortunately, I did not get to know him very well in those days. After reading the beautiful, heartfelt memorial tribute, I am very sorry that I did not have the privilege of having him in my inner circle. I simply wanted to say BRAVO to his family for that wonderful obituary. You sure did him proud. My sincere sympathy.

Dear Jen, Jess, Scott and Patrick,
No matter what life brings there is never a way to prepare you for losing your parents. I know that losing your mom already so many years ago was so very difficult. She left this life to early. And I know you all must miss her. We look to our parents for wisdom, and as we grow we realize that their wisdom is not always perfect. But in learning that we learn even more about how to carry on that wisdom and advise the young ones that are still learning. I know Jen that it probably wasn't always easy to have your dad so close, but over shadowing any little stresses there might have been was probably the knowing that you had your dad by your side, and you could talk to him about so many things any time. I am so glad that you had that time with him. It is something you will always carry with you. I never got that with your Grandpa Kurt. And I wish every day that I could have had that opportunity. I am so sorry I can't join you all today in the celebration of Joe's life. But please know that I am thinking of you all. Sending lots of hugs and love, Love Aunt Biz

We met Joe through his work at Carmel Builders. He was a wonderful person to have working on our many projects. Joe was kind and trustworthy and he worked hard. He had wonderful wisdom, a great outlook, and it was delightful that he brought his dog with him sometimes. He enjoyed our cats and they thought Joe was great as he greeted them saying "mew, mew, mew". We know he is with the Lord and we send our sincere sympathy to the family.

We were blessed to have Joe with Carmel Builders for nearly 25 years. Joe’s remarkable skill as a Master Carpenter along his with high standards helped our company become the company we are today. His dogged insistence to “do it right” along with his kindness and a heart as big as the outdoors he loved, made a lasting impression on all who knew him. His spirit lives on in our hearts.
Go with God dear friend!

Joe and Cindy Martin left a large legacy of love behind them through selfless volunteering, and their children and grandchildren. I did Girl Scouts with Mrs. Martin, even burning a hole through my pants when I was 9 yo doing some kind of outdoor cooking, and my mom had to come back to the meeting with a new pair of pants for me. I remember her as such a loving person, and loving their hobby farm, almost hoping they would adopt me. I played sax with Jessica in band, and loved her wild independent spirit. Later my brother became a Boy Scout with Pat and forever changed the course of my family's life. Mr. Martin ( I could hardly call him Joe) was always teaching, and also exemplified what loving your neighbor meant. I count it great joy to have worked with him through Boy Scouts. Watching the way he taught those young souls was an honor, he had a knack for it! I remember Lee and Pat getting in trouble for some wild antics, mostly coming out unscathed or bleeding, and one particular time, where one of them put a sealed can of something in the fire they had built at the farm, and it went off exploding, hitting the windshield of Joe's truck. I remember the hours that my Dad, other parents and I stood outside behind St. Mary's church talking as the sunset behind us, laughing, crying, or both! I also remember picking out a Christmas tree often as a kid, and then working hours of countless tree and wreath sales out there. Mr. Martin always checked in on my dad and mom, even if they weren't agreeing on something, which meant they cared about each other more than they would admit. My condolences to all his family and friends. I pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit for all of you.

Mr. Joe was a man spirit through and through. He had a generous and friendly heart, his work ethic unquestionable alongside sincerity and genuineness that was always felt and appreciated. I enjoyed his smile, his laugh, watching him bounce around on the lawn tractor for many years at The Hapoy Acres Farm and The Soul Source. He was always proud to share his hunting and fishing score alike.
He was proud of his family, and a man that you could find ease and conversation with.
Our prayers will continue to extend to him and his family. May his memories always paint your hearts with a smile of joy....rest in peace❤️ -much love-Angela
