Why Choose Us?
Hazel I. Tornow, (nee Lucht), 90, of Slinger found peace on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Serenity Villa in Slinger.
She was born on July 8, 1929 to the late Adolph and Alma (nee Kopitzke) Lucht in Marion, WI. On September 16, 1950 she was united in marriage to Norman H. Tornow Sr. They lived in the Milwaukee area and raised their five children. In 1974 they relocated to Big Cedar Lake. Hazel worked as a head cook at Slinger High School for many years and really enjoyed the students and faculty, and was always helping at school activities. She was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Slinger. Hazel loved being in the water, fishing, baking (especially her “healthy” oatmeal chocolate chip cookies), dancing, and playing cards with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those Hazel leaves behind to cherish her memory include her three children. Jackie (Ed) Landry, Brian (Peggy) Tornow, and Jeff (Kristen) Tornow; son-in-law, Jim Hiller; thirteen grandchildren, Abby (Brendan) Matthias, Jon (Tara) Hiller, Chris (JoAnna) Landry, Joe Landry, Stephanie Landry, Andrew Landry, Kelly Tornow, Kara (Rett) Deinlein, Jeffrey (Fiancé Laura) Tornow, Ben Tornow, Matt Tornow, Nick Tornow, and Sam Tornow; four great grandchildren, Madilyn Matthias, Annabelle Matthias, Hailey Deinlein, and Leah Deinlein; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, sisters and brothers, she is joining her husband, Norman H. Tornow Sr.; her daughter, Sherri Hiller; and her son, Norman Tornow Jr.; to be with their savior Jesus Christ.
A memorial service in remembrance of Hazel will be on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4860 Arthur Rd., Slinger.
