Floyd Schwecke Obituary

Floyd D. Schwecke, 87, of Fond du Lac, was called into God's presence on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was born on March 31, 1931 at Gibbon, MN, the son of the late Dietrich and Lydia Schwecke (nee Boettcher). His parents brought Floyd to Christ on April 19, 1931 through baptism at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moltke Township, Gibbon, MN.

He declared his faith in Christ and was confirmed on March 25, 1945. His confirmation verse was Colossians 3:17 “Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”.

Floyd attended St. Peter's Lutheran Grade School and graduated high school and college at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.

Floyd was united in marriage to LaDonna Petersen on June 10, 1952 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Gibbon, MN.

Floyd's first call to teach was at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bay City, MI. He was then called to teach at Bethel Lutheran Church and St. James Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Floyd's last 29 years of teaching were at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. After his retirement, he continued his service to the Lord through prison ministry.

He lived his life by faith. He shared his loved for his Lord with his family and all the students God placed at his feet. There is no doubt what was in his heart, and that his faith was uppermost in his life.

Those Floyd leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, LaDonna; the five children the Lord blessed their marriage with, Suzanne (Mark) Prowatzke of St. Peters, MO, Robert (Donna) Schwecke of Waukesha, WI, Julie (Michael) Nolan of Brandon, WI, Timothy (Julie) Schwecke of Lake Mills, WI, and Peter (Lori) Schwecke of Shawano, WI; fourteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Marian Grams and Linda (Dan) Gigstead; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Donald (Elaine); four sisters and five brothers-in-law, Marion (John) Sorebo, Harriet (Orville) Graupman, Evelyn (Clarence) Bruns, Lee Orda (Arn) Hahn, and Herbert Grams.

A funeral service in remembrance of Floyd will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 605 Highland Ave. Brownsville, WI. 53006. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. Floyd's family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
